On this page you will find links to various components and consumables used in device modification. In case the link doesn’t work I also give a picture, so you have an idea of what to look for. Click the picture to view the larger version.

Eaton 15-amp Single-pole Rocker Light Switch - unfortunately, buying just switch rockers (paddles) is not an option, at least I wasn’t able to find them. Therefore I chose the most inexpensive standard switch. You can buy one at your local Lowe’s. One unit costs around $2.70 and 10-pack is just $20, so $2.00 each. |

Tactile switch - push buttons used in all the switches. Be sure to buy the 6x6x4.3mm model as it has the smallest height and all the 3D models were created with it in mind. |

Thin wire - thin wire (choose 30 AWG) suitable for the purposes of this guide. Strips and tins easily. If the link stops working, search for PTFE Silver Plated Copper Wire |
![]() |
0603 wired LEDs - tiny LEDs with wires already soldered to them. Easy to work with. |
![]() |
SMD resistors this or this or this - resistors, what else can I say? Go for 80 Value pack. Both 0805 and 0603 sets are useful. |
![]() |
SMD capacitors - inexpensive ceramic capacitors. |
![]() |
1% SMD resistors - nice set of 1% 0805 resistors, but more expensive (still cheap, though). |
![]() |
0.25 W resistors - may be used instead of SMD if you prefer. |

BTA16-800BW triacs - snubberless triacs, perfect for controlling inductive loads like AC motors. |
![]() |
MOC3022 optotriacs - triac optocoupler, perfect for driving BTA16s. |
![]() |
250V capacitors - high voltage capacitors, perfect for controlling ceiling fan speed. |
![]() |
SSR-DA41F - slim solid state relays 250V 6A |
![]() |
AO34xx MOSFETs and AO3401 MOSFETs - inexpensive little MOSFET transistors. |

Copper bars - useful for making small heatsinks. |

1.5 mm pin terminals - perfect fit for kidde smoke alarm connectors. |
